Tricky

One thing my wife did not know about me before we got married was how tricky I can be. Besides the typical sneaky things like putting pillows under the covers while my wife is in the bathroom and then hiding (which she falls for all the time) and sneaking food off her plate when she is not looking (which she never notices) I have done some larger scale tricks.

Last Thanksgiving I was at my in laws house and everyone was resting. My mother in law (MIL) was in one room reading and my father in law (FIL) was watching a movie with my wife and me. Every year there tradition is to make ginger bread houses together at night. It has always just been the "kids" (anyone 30 and under) but because of different circumstances it was just my FIL, MIL, wife, and me. My wife and I being the only "kids" did not want to make houses by ourself. So I began to scheme, I went into the other room and told my MIL that her husband said "he is really excited to make a house with you this year and will meet you at the table in five minutes." She was surprised and said "oh, well if he wants to make one then I will be ready in five." Then, I went into the family room where the movie had just ended and told my FIL that his wife was getting ready to make a ginger bread house with him and to be at the table in three minutes. He was a little surprised too and said well lets go do it right now. So I then went back to my MIL and told her that her husband was ready to start now. It was all very tricky but in the end all four of us made ginger bread houses together and had a blast. They had no idea what had just happened.

Last summer I had a shoulder injury from diving into a fence playing slow pitch softball. A couple of weeks later I hurt my wrist in a rollerblading accident. Needless to say I went to physical therapy several months later and was given a list of exercises to do. One of the things I was supposed to do was give an ice massage to my wrist for ten minutes everyday. But, when I got home my wife briefly looked at my list and I showed her where I was suppose to get a massage on my wrist. Well, this is where I became tricky. Instead of an ice wrist massage I told her it was for my shoulder and I needed a back massage every night to work my sore muscle. Being the trusting wife she is she said ok and began giving my back messages every night before bed. I loved it! She had no idea I did not need the back rub every night or even at all. I felt guilty a couple of times when it was late and she was already in bed but I knew if I let one go she would become suspicious. This went on for two or three months. I finally told her a month after my physical rehab was done and she wasn't even mad because of how clever I was. I have a great wife!
